You hear a lot on the news about Zimbabwe and the collapse of their economy and a bunch of negative press.  But that was not my experience at all.  We met 3 brothers and their families who are just awesome and genuinely love people. They have seen a need and are working together to meet that need.  In their community they have come across a group of orphans and quite a few adults,  most of which have been affected by HIV/AIDS in some way.  On top of that, we came to find many of the children have been suffering from abuse.  From guardians, family members or someone else.  It was heart wrenching to hear story after story of physical, verbal and sexual abuse.  On the other hand, to be completely honest, it makes your blood boil and you want to beat the tar out of the people who do that stuff and can just get away with it because of the lack of systems in place.

Yet, these three brothers haven’t taken that route.  They instead have become a source of refuge for these children.  They care deeply for the children and adults who are vulnerable. I was encouraged by their love, compassion and commitment to the people they are caring for.  It was truly an example of how to love others and care for others.
